On a stormy December evening, during a friendly gathering, I met a musician who, unknowingly at that moment, would launch me into an extraordinary musical adventure.
As soon as our music notes met, a new music seemingly flowed through our veins. We immediately realized that our paths crossed for a reason…
The emergence of the group K’ryne, a duet which gives a new sound to traditional tunes…
The group K’Ryne consists of Karine and Simon. Karine is a traditional fiddler who over the years, improved her music through numerous experiences in the music industry.
In summer 2006, she received training in Irish music at the Limerick University in Ireland and in Scottish music in California, United States.
Brought up in a family of musicians, Simon spent his youth in jam sessions with his father. He played violin and mandoline until the time he was old enough to play the guitar, at about 9 years old. At 14, with four of his friends in St-Côme, he formed the group «Cinqôme Band». From the outset, the group gave professional concerts across Québec. At 17, Simon began his first year in the music program at the Cégep régional de Lanaudière in Joliette Québec with guitar and jazz as his field of concentration. The adventure continued until April 2006 when he finished his Bachelor’s Degree in the Jazz-pop and Guitar Interpretation program.
