The overriding goal of Mike Wiley Productions is expanding cultural awareness for audiences of all ages through dynamic portrayals of pivotal moments in African American history, helping to unveil a richer picture of the total human experience. A Visiting Professor at The Center for Documentary Studies in North Carolina and a 2012 Independent Weekly Indie Artist of The Year, Wiley currently tours eight original dramas throughout the US.

An MFA Graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, Wiley’s performances include One Noble Journey, the true story of Henry “Box” Brown, a slave who mailed himself to freedom; Brown v. Board of Education: Over Fifty Years Later on the high-impact ruling that desegregated schools; Jackie Robinson: A Game Apart, about African American athletes who pushed the color barrier to its breaking point; Dar He: The Story of Emmett Till, a chronicle of the murder, trial and confession of the men accused of Till’s lynching; Tired Souls: The Montgomery Bus Boycott, documenting men and women who stood up to Jim Crow segregation; Life Is So Good, on the amazing life of George Dawson who learned to read at the age of 98; Blood Done Sign My Name, based on Tim Tyson’s award-winning memoir of race and religion; and The Parchman Hour: Songs and Stories of the 1961 Freedom Riders. Wiley’s work in film has received major festival awards in the U.S. and abroad.
