Hong XuChinese pianist Hong Xu is an artist of incredible intensity, lyricism and stage presence;“… not just technically accomplished, but with an emotional range beyond his years,” says the Hilton Head Island Packet. Xu is Laureate of Canada’s Honens International Piano Competition (2006), winner of the Mozart Prize at the Cleveland (2005), and Second Prize winner of the Hilton Head (2004) International Piano Competitions.

Today he works toward his master’s degree with Jerome Lowenthal at The Juilliard School.

Xu made his debut with orchestra at age 16 in a performance of Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto with the Wuhan Symphony Orchestra (China). He has since appeared with the Calgary, Hilton Head, Utah and Syracuse Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestras, and has performed in recital in England, Hong Kong, Japan, throughout China and the United States. In 2005, he gave his Kennedy Center debut. Xu’s performances have been broadcast around the world on the BBC, CBC, NPR, and WQXR (New York).
