Chris Kirby and the Marquee
Chris Kirby and the MarqueeChris Kirby is a witty, spitey, pasty white kid from the woods of Newfoundland whose style is simply addictive. His music is dubbed “East Coast R&B”...and it's groovy! Chris plays funky piano, saucy guitar, and sings as if the fate of his own mother hangs on every word.
2009 has marked a busy year so far for Kirby, who had successful showcases at the International Folk Alliance in Memphis, TN, the East Coast Music Awards in Corner Brook, NL and the COCA conference in St John’s, NL. He’ll also take several festival stages in 2009, at the Dutch Mason Blues Festival, the Wreckhouse Jazz and Blues Festival and the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival.

Kirby also has his second album, Vampire Hotel, slated for release in late June, and will be taking it on the road with his trio, The Marquee. Hitting several cities in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes, Kirby will be delighting audiences with his unique R&B funk. A cross between Wide Mouth Mason and Jamiroquai, Kirby lays into his show with an enthusiasm only seen in passion-driven Newfoundland artists. Engaging, comical and fiery, he attacks his music like a man who’s been burned, but exhibits it with the confident, almost playful irony of a man who won’t let it happen twice.

Live, Chris Kirby & the Marquee entertain and inspire. They are a refreshing throwback to the styles of blues legends, but with a modern flair that's all their own. With tight arrangements and spontaneous jams, CK&M deliver a unique and unforgettable show every time.
